Circle of lovers

COME JOIN OUR DANCE, come whirl with us Sufi dervishes, out in the vast emptiness of the desert night. See how our dance of love has even brought the moon and stars spinning down close to the Earth, into the centre of our swirling whirling vortex. 

Here, as we whirl in our aloneness, we are also each a part of the great dance of the whole, the eternal wheeling of the cosmos. The fiery energy that spirals outwards is held in check by the cooler circle of nature surrounding it, but all is turning, always turning around the still centre.

And inside this vast vortex, kept in motion by the swirling and soaring, hypnotically entrancing sounds of daff and tambour, santoor and ney, we whirlers know one thing; that which is turning is only on the outside; deep inside we are still, eternally still.
