Cosmic coniunctio

IN THE BEGINNING, the Gnostics say, were the male and the female energies, perfectly balanced, perfectly intertwined, radiating out from the source in exact parity. Wherever they overlapped, a third entity crystallised from their conjunction, harmonising the two energies within exquisitely balanced forms.

From this cosmic marriage came forth all that is – the galaxies and solar sytems, the crystals and minerals, the flowers and fruits, the particles and cells that form all matter. And the shimmering, rippling whole, the great web of energy, is continuously evolving, forever reorganising itself to maintain this delicate equilibrium – turn away from the mandala then look back quickly and you may just catch sight of it shifting subtly along the lines of its ever-fluctuating grid.
